» Visa Requirements
:: Short Term Stay Visa – Holidaying, Sightseeing, Visiting friends/Relatives
- Filled Visa Application Form
- One passport sized photo taken within 3 months
- Birth Certificate
- Valid Passport
- If
- Working – Letter from employer
- Student – Letter from the school
- Self-employed – A company letter and a business license
- Financial Evidence (e.g. passbook or bank statement)
- A proposed Flight Itinerary
- Original supporting documents from sponsor in Japan,
- (e.g. Invitation and Guarantee Letter stating the purpose of the visit, relationship to the sponsor, type of financial support to be provided and confirmation of accommodation with proper address in Japan where the applicant intends to stay)
- Visa Fees:
- $F53:00 to be paid by cash upon collection of passport.
- Personal cheque or company cheque is not acceptable.
- Please be advised to bring exact amount.
» Business Visa - Meetings, Symposium, Short Course/ Seminars, Trainee e.t.c
- Requirement N0:1 – N0:4 as stated above
- Letter from Employer or if self employed a company letter and a business licensed
- Financial Evidence for the company
- A proposed Flight Itinerary
- Original Supporting documents from Japan
- Invitation and Guarantee letter stating the purpose of the visit
- Business License (Tokibo) and Tax Certificate (Kakutei Sinkokusho/Nouzei Shoumeisho)
- Visa Fees same as visitors visa
» Transit Visa - (Single Entry and Double Entry)
- Filled Visa Application Form
- One passport sized photo taken within the last three months
- Valid passport
- Confirmed onward airline ticket and a third country visa
- Activities are limited to sightseeing and leisure
- Visa Fees:
- $F12:00 to be paid by Cash upon collection of passport

- Additional documents may be requested by the Officer after submitting your application
- All documents submitted must be originals or certified copies of the original
- Documents submitted with the application WILL NOT be returned. Please ensure that you have personal copies for your reference.
Visa Applications: Information on processing of visa applications
» Filling out the form
- You must answer all questions in the form and write neatly in BLOCK LETTERS.
- Incomplete visa application forms will not be accepted.
- False or misleading information may lead to refusal or cancellation of visa or penalties while in Japan.
- The required photograph must be pasted or glued to the space provided on the form.
» Lodging your application
- You must apply IN PERSON at the Embassy.
- To avoid delays, be sure to have attached all supporting documents together with the form and photograph.
- ALL supporting documents must be originals or certified copies of the original.
- Documents submitted with the application WILL NOT be returned. Please ensure that you have personal copies for your reference.
- Additional documents may be requested by the Officer after submitting your application
- The visa fee is payable at the time of collection of passport.
» Processing of visa applications
- The process time for the issuance of a visa varies according to the purpose of journey. In general, it takes 2 to 5 working days to process and issue visa by the Embassy.
- In certain cases, such as working visas etc (without a Certificate of Eligibility), and some short term visas, processing time can take up to 2 to 5 months if the applications need to be referred to the home government.
- To shorten the processing time for such visas, it is recommended that the applicant obtain a Certificate of Eligibility from Japan before lodging the application at the Embassy.
- Non-residents of Fiji must apply for visas to Japan through the Japanese Embassy in their country of normal residence.
