» Japan Provides Medical Equipments to Colonial War Memorial Hospital

The Government of Japan will provide grant aid funds totalling US$90,726.00 (approximately F$152,000.00) for the purchase of two (2) Ultrasound machines for the Colonial War Memorial (C.W.M.) Hospital.

Grant Contract, formalizing Japan’s assistance, was signed between the representative of C.W.M. Hospital and H.E. Mr. Kenro Iino, the Ambassador of Japan to Fiji, at 10.30 a.m. on Friday 17th September 2004 at the Embassy of Japan in Suva. The funds for this project would be available under the Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGP) programme.

Japan’s assistance to these projects indicates its commitment to contribute to the improvement of the living standards and welfare of people in Fiji and is in line with its Official Development Assistance (ODA) policy of promoting development at the grassroots level. The GGP programme is specifically designed to address basic human needs, which include water supply, health, basic education, vocational training and rural infrastructure. It is hoped that this assistance will help further strengthen the friendly ties between the governments and the people of Fiji and Japan.
