» Japan Contributes to Tonga's Education

On Saturday 17th July, Mr Kenji Miyata, Minister - Counsellor of the Japanese Embassy will officiate in the opening of the newly upgraded Hala’ovave Government Primary School in Tonga.

The new school facilities were constructed under Japan’s ODA (Official Development Assistance) at approximately US$81, 391.00 (Eighty One Thousand, Three Hundred and Ninety One US Dollars.)

Japan has always had a strong policy to help its Pacific Island neighbours and the Kingdom of Tonga was never an exception.

Japan recognises the integral role education plays in the development of the emerging workforce and consequently in the development of the entire nation, and contributing to national development is the ultimate objective of Japan's ODA.

The Government of Japan hopes that the Upgrading of the Hala’ovave Government Primary School gives the students a renewed sense of pride and higher enthusiasm for learning.

This project is another milestone in Japan’s ongoing support and co-operation to Tonga and it is also a beacon of the Japan - Tonga friendship.
