H.E. AMBASSADOR YUTAKA YOSHIZAWA EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES OF THE GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE OF JAPAN ON THE PASSING OF THE FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF FIJI
Last week, Ambassador Yutaka Yoshizawa of Japan expressed condolences of the Government and people of Japan on the passing passing of the Former President of the Republic of Fiji and the Turaga Na Tui Vuda, H.E. Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivida, in his letter addressed to the Commodore Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji.
In the letter dated 8th February 2011, he said:
“I was greatly saddened to learn of the profound loss suffered by the nation of Fiji on the passing of the Former President of the Republic of Fiji and the Turaga Na Tui Vuda, H.E. Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivida.”
He also said, “On behalf of the people and Government of Japan, I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to H.E. Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivida’s family, the Government of the Republic of Fiji, the people of Vuda and the entire nation of Fiji.”
He further said, “H.E. Ratu Uluivuda was a revered paramount chief and one of the most eminent Statesmen of modern-day Fiji. I am confident that his contribution and service to the nation will be deeply treasured by the people of Fiji.”
