Ambassador Michii attended 2025 World Tsunami Awareness Day & Official Launch of the Tsunami Ready Recognition Program

On 5th November 2025, H.E. Mr. Rokuichiro MICHII, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Fiji, attended the World Tsunami Awareness Day and the official launch of the Tsunami Ready Recognition Program, held at the Fiji Mineral Resources Department. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, led by the Hon. Filimoni Vosarogo, and was also attended by Ms. Etsuko INOUE from the International Organization for Migration.
The occasion welcomed students from ten schools, who actively participated in an oratory competition centered around the theme: “Be Tsunami Ready: Invest in Tsunami Preparedness.”
In his address, Ambassador MICHII reflected on the legacy of resilience and the lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake. He emphasized the critical importance of preparedness and education, reaffirming Japan’s enduring commitment to supporting disaster resilience efforts in Fiji and across the Pacific region.

This partnership continues to inspire shared learning and collective action.
