2025/10/27

On 20th October 2025, the Government of Japan handed over the second batch of equipment provided through Japan’s new cooperation framework called Official Security Assistance (OSA) with overall grant aid valued at 400 million Japanese Yen (approximately FJ$6.0 million).
H.E. Mr. Rokuichiro MICHII, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Fiji, handed over a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) to Commodore Timoci Natuva, Chief of Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Naval Division. This is the second of three batches that will be delivered through this assistance to the RFMF Naval Division. The third batch, consisting of three 18-meter patrol vessels will follow in due course.
We recognize Fiji plays a pivotal role in maintaining peace, stability, sustainable development and prosperity in this region. Enhancing maritime domain awareness and maritime law enforcement capabilities are this region’s priority, in order to respond and deter various maritime security challenges such as IUU fishing and transnational organized crime including smuggling and human trafficking. We look forward to working closely with the Government of Fiji for further collaboration and cooperation.
