Handing Over Ceremony for “The Project for Procurement of Boat with Outboard Engine in Tamusua Village” under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) programme.

On 22 November 2024, Japan handed over a new boat with 2 outboard engines to Tamusua Village.
The Ambassador of Japan to Fiji Mr. Rokuichiro MICHII was joined by the Hon. Alitia Bainivalu, Minister for Fisheries & Forests, Hon. Semi Koroilavesau, Member of Parliament and Former Minister for Fisheries, to handover the boat worth approximately FJD 216,000, funded by Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Programme.
The new boat will provide a safe transportation method for the local people in emergency situations as well as fish products to the main market in Lautoka.
At the ceremony, Ambassador MICHII stated that livelihood in Tamusua Village will significantly improve with this new boat. Ambassador expressed his wish to strengthen the friendship between Fiji and Japan.
