Integrated Border Management Project –Seaport Border Training (20 February 2024)

The closing ceremony of the technical training for the Project for Strengthening Capacity of Border Control, implemented in collaboration with UNDP, IOM and UNCTAD, took place on 20 February. The training was aimed at imparting knowledge and skills essential for vessel search, including safety at sea, boarding operations, boarding access systems and underwater survival techniques to officials of border agencies, with 25 participants from Fiji, Palau and Vanuatu.

In his closing remarks on the last day of the training, the Ambassador of Japan to Fiji, H.E. Rokuichiro Michii, expressed his appreciation for the timely implementation of the programme and encouraged the participants to make great use of the skills learned at the borders of each seaport for the safety and security of the Pacific Islands and the entire ocean that links us all.
