Japanese Government Scholarship for Teacher Training Students for 2016

The Government of Japan offers scholarships for “Teacher Training Students” to qualified Fiji citizens for studying in Japan.
B. Eligibility
(1) Age: Applicants must be born on or after 2 April 1981.
(2) Academic Background: Applicants must be graduate of universities or teacher training schools and have worked as teachers at elementary or secondary educational institutions or teacher training schools in their home countries for, in principle, five years in total, as of 1 April 2016. In-service university faculty members are not eligible.
(3) Japanese Language Ability: Applicants must be willing to learn Japanese. Applicants must be interested in Japan, and be willing to deepen the understanding of Japan after arriving in Japan. Applicants must also have the ability to do research in Japanese and adapt to living in Japan.
(4) Term of Scholarship: The term is the period necessary to complete each university’s training course and should be between October 2016 (or the starting month of the study course) and March 2018.
C. Selection Process
a. Application Deadline: 19 February 2016 (received by the Japanese Embassy in Suva) (Please write “For Japanese Scholarship” on your envelope.)
b. Examination (English Test)and Interview: Beginning or Middle of March 2016
c. Announcement of Primary Selection: End of March 2016
d. Announcement of Successful Candidates: End of May 2016
