Reception to celebrate the 84th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan (13 December 2017)

On 13 December 2017, His Excellency Mr. Masahiro Omura, Ambassador of Japan, hosted a reception to celebrate the 84th birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, at his residence. His Excellency Major-General (Retired) Jioji Konusi Konrote, President of the Republic of Fiji, Honourable Anthony Gates, Chief Justice, Honourable Dr. Jiko Luveni, Speaker of Parliament and His Excellency Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, Former President of the Republic of Fiji and more than 200 guests from the Government, private sector, diplomatic corps, including Fijians from all walks of life joined this event. At the reception, His Excellency Mr. Omura awarded Ambassador’s Commendations to four recipients recognizing their distinguished contribution to the deepening of relations between Japan and Fiji, and the region. They include Professor Rajesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP, Mr. Keizo Takahashi, Fisheries Technical Expert (formerly based in Kiribati), from the Overseas Fishery Cooperation Foundation of Japan, Mr. Nacanieli Takayawa, President of Fiji Judo Association and Mr. Robin Yarrow, Former Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji to Japan.
