Koronubu Indian School in Ba received a grant of US$72,124 (approximately FJD138,700.00) from the Government of Japan for the construction of the three-classroom building complex. The new classrooms will replace the old wooden classrooms built in 1930’s when the school was established to provide basic primary education to the community of Koronubu, Benai, Nakavika, Nabatolu, Field 11, Korovuto, and Namada villages. The new classrooms will empower this rural based school with modern classrooms to ensure that children of this farming community in Ba are provided with best of resources and equal opportunities to excel academically. This School over the years faced financial difficulties in renovating the old wooden deteriorated building to accommodate the 165 children attending the school.
