Ministerial Interim Meeting of PALM 5 held in Tokyo on 16th October 2010
The Ministerial Interim Meeting of the 5th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM 5) was held in Tokyo on 16th October 2010. The meeting was chaired by the Foreign Minister of Japan, Mr. Seiji Maehara and had participation from ministerial levels, such as Deputy Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of 16 Pacific Island Countries, namely, Australia, Cook, Fiji, FSM, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, NZ, Palau, PNG, Samoa, Solomon, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. The Prime Minister of Vanuatu, Hon. Edward Natapei had also participated as the Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum. During the meeting, a follow up of the implementation of key PALM 5 outcomes (including enhanced cooperation to address climate change) as well as preparation for the PALM 6 to be held in Okinawa in May 2012 were discussed.
