Japanese Dolls Exhibition (from 7 February to 8 March 2014)

The Embassy will host a Japanese Dolls Exhibition from 7 February 2014 to 8 March 2014 at the Fiji Museum.

In Japan, dolls have been a part of everyday life since ancient times.  Japanese dolls reflect the customs of Japan and the aspirations of its people, possess distinctive regional attributes and over the centuries have developed in many diverse forms.  Dolls also provide a showcase for traditional Japanese artisan made products, such as textiles.  The Embassy hopes that the dolls in this exhibition will help visitors appreciate such various aspects of Japanese culture.
