Signings of Exchange of Notes on Grant Aid for Fiji titled “Medium Wave Radio Transmission to Fiji”

  1. H.E. Mr. Takuji Hanatani, Ambassador of Japan, and Hon. Rear Admiral(Retired) Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji, formalized a new project on Japan’s Grant Aid Programme to Fiji titled “the Rehabilitation of Medium Wave Radio Transmission” at an Exchange of Notes signing ceremony hosted by the Government of Republic of Fiji, at the Prime Minister’s Office, at 10:20 am on 31 August 2015.
  2. Japan will be providing medium wave radio equipment worth 865 million Japanese Yen (approximately Fifteen Million Fiji Dollars) implemented by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) which entails the construction of a New Transmission Antenna, Transmission House, supply of new transmitters with other related maintenance equipment and tools in Fiji Broadcasting Corporation(FBC). This assistance contributes to improve radio service such as disaster information to the people especially in remote maritime areas where are most affected in times of emergencies and natural disasters.
