::Visa Requirements

Short Term Stay
(holiday, sightseeing, visiting friends/relatives)
1. One visa application form
2. One passport size photograph taken within the last 3 months
3. Valid passport
4. Certificate of Employment, if working
5. Financial evidence (e.g. Passbook, bank statement)
6. Proposed flight itinerary and copy of confirmed airline or ticket
7. Original supporting documents from sponsor in Japan (e.g. Invitation and Guarantee letter stating the purpose of the visit, relationship to the sponsor, type of financial support to be provided, and confirmation of accommodation with proper address in Japan where applicant intends to stay)
8. Visa fee of F$48.00 to be paid by cash, or bank cheque upon collection of passport

Documents submitted with the application WILL NOT be returned. Please ensure that you have personal copies for your reference

Transit Visa
1. Requirement No 1- No 3 as stated above
2. Confirmed onward airline ticket and a third country visa
3. Visa fee of F$11.00 to be paid by cash, or bank cheque

Filling out the form

  • You must answer ALL questions and write neatly in BLOCK LETTERS.
  • You must answer all questions honestly and completely. False or misleading information may lead to refusal or cancellation of visa, or penalties while in Japan.
  • A travel agent may help you fill out the form but YOU must sign it. A parent or guardian may sign for anyone who is physically not capable of signing.
  • Incomplete visa application forms will not be accepted.
  • Supporting documents for your application must be attached behind the application form.
  • The required photograph must be pasted or glued to the space provided on the form.

Lodging Your Application
  • To avoid delays, be sure to have attached all your supporting documents together with your fully completed form and photograph.
  • Please check that the application form has been filled out accurately before lodging.
  • ALL supporting documents must either be originals, or certified copies.
  • The visa fee is payable at the time of collection of passport.

Processing of Visa Applications

Processing time for the issuance of a Japanese visa varies according to the purpose of entry. It normally takes two to five working days, and in some cases it can take weeks or months to process visas.

  • The process time for the issuance of a visa varies according to the purpose of journey. In general, it takes 2 to 5 working days to process and issue visa by the Embassy (without referring the application to the home government).
  • In certain cases, such as working visas etc (without a Certificate of Eligibility), and some short term visas, processing time can take up to 2 to 5 months if the applications need to be referred to the home government.
  • To shorten the processing time for such visas, it is recommended that the application obtain a Certificate of Eligibility from Japan before lodging the application at the Embassy.
  • It is recommended that non-residents of Fiji apply for visas to Japan through the Japanese Embassy in their country of normal residence.
