Japanese Ambassador Presents Credentials

Japan’s new ambassador to the Republic of Kiribati, H.E. Mr. Kenro Iino has presented his credentials to H.E. Mr. Anote Tong, at Tarawa this afternoon. He was accompanied by Mrs. Yumiko Iino.

Mr. Iino began his diplomatic career when he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan in 1969. Since then, he has served in a number of countries including Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Australia.

Ambassador Iino holds special regard for the Pacific Island region because many of the divisions in which he worked in the Ministry, such as the Oceania Division, the Aid Policy Division and etc, were closely related to the region. He also stressed in his statement this afternoon that he would like to help further strengthen the existing excellent relationship between Kiribati and Japan.
