Japan Provides Funds to Thirteen (13) Projects in the Republic of Vanuatu
The Government of Japan is pleased to announce the approval of grants totalling US$633,676.00 for thirteen (13) projects in the Republic of in Vanuatu.
Grant Contracts, formalizing Japan’s assistance, was signed between the recipient organisations and Mr. Hiroshi Watanabe, the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, on Friday 16th December 2005 at the Department of Foreign Affairs office in the Republic of Vanuatu. The funds for the projects would be available under the Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGP) programme.

Japan’s assistance to these projects indicates its commitment to contribute to the improvement of the living standards and welfare of people in Vanuatu and is in line with its Official Development Assistance (ODA) policy of promoting development at the grassroots level. The GGP programme is specifically designed to address basic human needs, which include water supply, health, basic education, vocational training and rural infrastructure. It is hoped that this assistance will help further strengthen friendly ties between the governments and the people of Vanuatu and Japan.
