The signing of the Exchange of Notes for the Grant Aid for Tuvalu “the Project for the Construction of the Multi-Purpose Vessel for Outer Islands Development”


On 19 December, 2018, an Exchange of Notes for the Grant Aid for Tuvalu “the Project for the Construction of the Multi-Purpose Vessel for Outer Islands Development” was held at the Tuvalu High Commission in Suva, Fiji. The Exchange of Notes were signed by H.E. Mr. Masahiro Omura, Ambassador of Japan, and Honourable Dr. Puakena Boreham, Minister for Natural Resources.
The 463 million JPY (App. 5.6 million AUD) Grant Aid assists the Government of Tuvalu to construct a multi-purpose vessel for outer islands development, which will be suitable for both fisheries research and passenger transportation. This project is expected to contribute to the promotion of fisheries in Tuvalu as well as strengthen its maritime transportation capacity.
