15 August, 2024 The Handing Over Ceremony for “The Project for Procurement of Backhoe loader in Nui Island” under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) programme.

On 15 August 2024, the successful handover of the latest state-of-the-art backhoe machine to Nui Island, Tuvalu. The handover ceremony was a momentous occasion, attended by the H.E Rokochiro MICHII Ambassador to Tuvalu, Honourable Dr. Maina Vakafua Talia, Minister for Home Affairs, Climate Change & Environment, and Esteemed Members of the Nui Kaupule, and key stakeholders.
 
With this important development, the Nui Kaupule community's agroforestry practice will be improved, increasing food security. It is advantageous for the environment, livestock, and community to combine forestry and agriculture to achieve a productive and sustainable land usage.
 
With the addition of this new backhoe machine worth approximetely AUD 170 thousand which provided under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) programme, the community are ready to take on more challenging projects and deliver exceptional results. Japan is committed to continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring that Tuvalu has the best tools at their development.
