Japanese Government Scholarship for Japanese Studies Students for 2016

The Government of Japan offers scholarships for “Japanese Studies Students” to qualified Kiribati citizens for studying in Japan.
 
  1. Field of Study
Study/training is implemented only for university/study courses indicated in the pamphlets “Course Guide of Japanese Studies Program”.  Please contact at email: eojculture@fj.mofa.go,jp or telephone no: 679-330-4633 for details of course guide.
 
B.  Eligibility
(1) Age: Applicants must be born between 2 April 1986 and 1 April 1998.
(2) Academic Background: Applicants must satisfy the following two conditions.
(2-a) Applicants must be undergraduates at foreign (non-Japanese) universities majoring in fields related to the Japanese language or Japanese culture at the time of arriving in and leaving Japan.
(2-b) Those who have studied the Japanese language at a university for a total period of at least more than one year as of April 2016.  Those who have studied Japanese for a total of at least one year at another university should submit without fail documents (transcript of grades at other university, etc.) that can verify that the applicant studied Japanese for a period of at least one year at the said university;
(3) Japanese Language Ability: Applicants must have Japanese language ability sufficient for receiving education at a Japanese university in Japan.
(4) Term of Scholarship: The term is the period necessary to complete each university’s training course and should be between October 2016 (or the starting month of the study course) and March 2018.
 
C.  Selection Process
a. Application Deadline: 12 February 2016 (received by the Japanese Embassy in Suva) (Please write “For Japanese Scholarship” on your envelope.)
b. Examination (English Test)and Interview: Beginning or Middle of March 2016
c. Announcement of Primary Selection: End of March 2016
d. Announcement of Successful Candidates: End of May 2016
