Japan Hands-Over Emergency Relief Supplies to Kiribati

On 23 August 2022, Mr. TANAKA Kenichiro, Counselor of the Embassy of Japan to the Republic of Kiribati, handed over emergency relief supplies to Mr. Arobati Teewe Bretchefeld, Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy (MISE) of the Republic of Kiribati, at a Handover Ceremony hosted by the Ministry, in Tarawa. Also present at the ceremony was H.E. Mr. David Yardley, Australian High Commissioner to the Republic of Kiribati and Mr. MATSUI Nobuaki of JICA Kiribati Field Office.
The emergency relief supplies were donated by the Government of Japan to support Kiribati in response to its severe drought situation. The supplies included Water purifiers(80 unit) and portable Jerry cans(3,600 unit) that were delivered to Kiribati by the Australian Air force. These goods will be distributed around Kiribati including the remote islands.
