Japan Provides Grant Aid Assistance to the Republic of Vanuatu The Detail Design of the Project for the Redevelopment of Vila Central Hospital

The Government of the Republic of Vanuatu will receive grant assistance in the sum of approximately JPY 65,000,000 (approx.79, 000,000 Vatu) from the Government of Japan for the detail design of the project for the redevelopment of Vila Central Hospital. The funding will be sourced from Japan’s General Grant Aid Scheme.

The ceremony of the Exchange of Notes on this assistance will be held in Port Vila, at 10.00a.m on 24th January 2012, where Hon. Alfred Rollen Carlot, Vanuatu’s Minister of Foreign Affairs & External Trade and H.E. Mr. Yutaka Yoshizawa, the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Vanuatu will sign and exchanged notes to formalise Japan’s commitment towards the project.

The assistance had materialised from the request by the Government of the Republic of Vanuatu.  The main purpose of the Grant Aid assistance is to prepare a comprehensive design to improve Port Vila’s main hospital with compliance to global standards.  More so, the project will ensure that Vanuatu moves ahead with the rest of the world in the form of rapid development particularly, in improving the lives of the people.

This Grant Aid assistance is a milestone in Japan’s ongoing support and cooperation towards the development and prosperity of Pacific Island Countries including Vanuatu and it is anticipated that the friendly ties between the Governments and the people of the Republic of Vanuatu and Japan will continue to strengthen.
