  1. H.E. Mr. Takuji Hanatani, Ambassador of Japan, and Hon. Rear Admiral (Retired) Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji, formalized a new project on Japan’s Grant Aid Programme to Fiji titled “The Economic and Social Development Programme” at an Exchange of Notes signing ceremony hosted by the Government of Republic of Fiji, at the Prime Minister’s Office, at 10:30am on 5 May 2016.
 
  1. The Grant Aid of 300 million Japanese Yen ( approximately US$2.8m or FJ$5.8m) will be made available to the Government of the Republic of Fiji for restoration and rehabilitation works for TC Winston. This grant aid will allow the Government of Fiji to identify items that are critical to restoration and rehabilitation needs such as machinery, construction materials or consumables essential for restoring normalcy into the lives of affected Fijians.
