The GGP Programme was founded on Japan’s “Human Security” concept under its ODA Policy, which focuses on building capacity and developing resilience in individuals and societies in which everyone can live with dignity by protecting and empowering individuals and communities that are exposed to actual or potential difficulties and challenges, especially in their daily lives. All GGP Projects seek to serve towards “Human Security” based on such principles.
Details of the respective Projects are as follows;
The Government of Japan will provide F$198,464 to the Chanel Home of Compassion in Tamavua, Suva to establish a special Nursing Care Facility and renovate its existing building. Once established, the Nursing Care Facility will be providing respite care for the old and disabled people. The tangible improvements will not only be beneficial for the senior citizens and disabled by providing a homely environment and making their daily lives enjoyable but also support the staff in delivering good quality care.
The Government of Japan will provide F$112,651.70 to the Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation to install essential water supply facilities such as reservoirs, wells, water pumps and pipes in five villages of the Ra Province, namely Waimari, Navatu, Nakorovou, Naqaqa and Nukulevu. Once the projects are implemented, the people of these five villages will not only benefit from consistent and reliable water in their daily lives but also benefit from improved sanitation brought about by clean and regular water supply .
